Business Name Generator

Generate unique, brandable business names with slogans and domain checks. Free, no signup, runs entirely in your browser. Works for startups, shops and more.

About This Business Name Generator

You already know what your business does. The hard part is finding a name people can remember, spell, and search for. This tool takes your industry keywords and turns them into hundreds of brandable name candidates, grouped so short, punchy names surface first. It also writes slogan options for each name and checks common domain patterns (.com, .io, .co and more), so you can go from "I need a name" to a shortlist you can actually register in one session.

Everything runs locally in your browser. Your keywords and ideas never leave your device. There is no account, no email, and no database of your entries.

How to Use It

  1. Enter your keyword or industry. "coffee", "fitness", "tech support". One or two words work best. The generator builds names around these roots instead of random word soup.
  2. Pick your style. Choose between short brandable names (1-2 syllables, like Stripe or Zoom), descriptive names (like "The Coffee Corner"), or combined words (like Shopify = shop + harmony).
  3. Generate and filter. Click Generate, then use the copy button on any name you like. Names that fail the "radio test", where someone hearing them cannot spell them, usually get dropped fastest.
  4. Check the domain. For each favourite, look at the domain patterns we show and verify availability at any registrar (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Porkbun) before you commit. A great name with no available .com forces compromises later.

5 Rules for a Name That Actually Works

Not every generated name deserves your attention. These five filters cut a 100-name list down to 3 real contenders.

  1. Pass the radio test. Say the name aloud to a friend. If they ask "how do you spell that?", the name fails. Stripe and Zoom pass. "Xylophix" fails, because people cannot tell X from Z by ear.
  2. Keep it to 2-3 syllables. Short names fit logos, app icons, and hashtags. Longer names get abbreviated by customers anyway, often in ways you did not choose.
  3. Do not box yourself in. "Delhi Pizza House" is a problem if you later sell burgers or open in Lahore. Unless you are certain you will stay niche and local, prefer a name that can grow.
  4. Check trademarks before you fall in love. Search your country's trademark database (USPTO in the US, IPO in the UK) for the name. Two months of branding wasted is worse than ten minutes of searching.
  5. Skip numbers and hyphens. "Best-Bakery-4-U.com" reads like spam and gets misheard constantly.

Naming by Industry: What Works Where

The generator supports industry filters because naming rules differ by category:

  • Tech startups favour short invented words (Zoom, Stripe, Twilio). They start as meaningless but become ownable.
  • Food and restaurants do well with warm, descriptive names ("Crust and Crumb", "The Daily Grind"). Customers should taste the business from the name alone.
  • Fashion and boutiques lean toward single elegant words. Avoid anything that sounds like a warehouse.
  • E-commerce stores need names with available .com domains above all. A store on a .net loses typed traffic to whoever owns the .com.
  • Service businesses benefit from descriptive names: "ClearFlow Plumbing" beats an abstract name when customers search in a panic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this business name generator really free?

Yes. No account, no credit card, no limit on generations. The tool runs in your browser and is funded by ads on the site.

Can I use a name the generator suggests for my real business?

Yes. Names generated here are not reserved. But always check your local trademark registry first, since the same word may already be trademarked in your industry or region.

How does the domain check work?

We show likely domain patterns for each name (name.com, getname.com, name.io and so on). We do not sell domains. Click through to any registrar to confirm availability and buy it.

What if I do not like any of the results?

Try a different keyword angle. "coffee" gives different names than "cafe", "brew", or "roast". Also switch styles. Combined words often produce results that plain descriptive names cannot.

Are my keywords stored anywhere?

No. All generation happens client-side in your browser. Close the tab and nothing remains.

Should I pick a name with an available .com or a better name without one?

For an online business, prefer the name with the .com. Users default to typing .com, and the traffic you lose to whoever owns it is gone forever.
